All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

It has happened enough in IL that restitution for the wrongfully convicted is a line on the IL income tax form.

I'm earwormed with songs from Jekyll & Hyde. I just found out that the Lucy from the production I did in 2006 will be making her Broadway debut this fall.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Okay, I'm hungry. Time to turn that farmer's market haul into, you know, food.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

Time to turn that farmer's market haul into, you know, food.

I have turnips, okra, portabella mushrooms, limes, and apples. Ideas for any of those? I am particularly lost with the turnips, okra, and limes. I have many limes.

I only know two things to do with okra -- cook with Indian spices and tomatoes, or coat with cornmeal and fry. Turnips, I've got no idea. Limes, you could make some limeade, or take a recipe for lemon bars or lemon cake and make it with lime instead, possibly with a bit of extra sugar. Or make a ton of Thai and Mexican food, since those frequently have some lime juice in the sauces.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

From a ways back:

I'm seeing one of the weirdest fanworks (and this is in the history including knitted wombs) get a bit more frequent--fan!tea. I'm now up to three people in two fandoms who are making different teas tied to different characters. I'm more than a little boggly at the idea, and I'm the one thinking of having babies with her tea machine.

The fan!tea thing cracks me up, but it also makes me want to spend a lot of time on the tea site that they're all using, because I could totally make Gothic Charm School tea on there. It's probably a good thing I don't remember which site it is.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Bathroom cleaned, except for mopping. I kind of forgot the tub was white. (Not really.) (But it was that nasty color that happens when you assume that all the filth is going down the drain when you shower.)

Eating a banana and granola bar, and then mopping of the bathroom and kitchen will commence.

Then, DAMN, do I need a shower. (Relatedly, how is it almost 5?)

I'm reading Marlee Matlin's autobiography. It's really not all that interesting (large portions of it are just "I met this person, then I moved to LA, then I met this other person, then I got cast in a TV movie, then I moved to a new apartment," without much that keeps me interested), but I'm wondering what the laws are about what people can say about other people in books like this. Because, she says that William Hurt beat and raped her. She doesn't use those exact words, but there are several parts where she says something like "Bill and I had a huge argument over that, and the next day, the makeup people on set had to cover up several bruises on my leg," and the rape scene doesn't use the word "rape," but that's clearly what's happening. I guess I'm used to all the "allegedly" stuff that's used in newspaper articles. What are the rules for things like this? Could he sue her and/or the publishing company for defamation or something like that?

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

Okra - slow cook or stew with tomatoes, salsa, onions, lime juice, pork or shrimp or catfish, chiles if you like it hot. Add rice towards the end. If the turnips include greens, throw all the turnip greens in. Salt, black pepper, cayenne pepper if you like it hot. a pit of honey. So that uses some of your lime and all of your Okra

Turnips, mix in with a beef or chicken stew or soup. Generally good in any soup or stew recipe where you would use carrots (not a substitute, an addition.) Portabella mushrooms make a good ingredient in a sandwich, though you will need something on the side for protein. Remove the stem to flatten the portabella (but use that stem in a stew or stir fry or something cause it is still tasty) Fry Portabella in oil and flavor of your choice (olive oil, garlic and italian spices; butter and salt and garlic, steak sauce, sesamee oil and soy sauce, whatever pleases you) Serve on toasted bread, Eng muffin, Sourdough or whatever toast bread you like. butter and tomato and lettuce in the sandwich or what you please. Cheese maybe for protein? You could also have apple and cheese for desert and not worry about protein in the sandwich. That uses up some of your apples.

If the apples are cooking apples and not really good for straight up eating, bake them in an oven or microwave with raisins, cinammon and maybe honey. If you use honey don't overdo. Baking the apple with raisins and cinnamon itself adds a lot of sweetness so I usually skip the honey, but if the apples are really tasteless than honey is needed but you still do not need a lot.

Hil, wow. I have no idea what the laws are. And I've never heard any of that before!

His statement on it [link]

"My own recollection is that we both apologized and both did a great deal to heal our lives. Of course, I did and do apologize for any pain I caused. And I know we have both grown. I wish Marlee and her family nothing but good."
