Polgara, I have access to the print Globe this week. There's no John Ludden in Monday or Tuesday's, but I can keep checking; obituaries often don't appear for several days. I am happy to clip and mail if one appears. (Also, they are paid, so there may not be one if the family didn't want to pay.)

Thanks, flea! The family would definitely have paid--he was a doctor and I think in charge of one of the local HMOs (although probably not recently). The further we get from Sunday, the more I'm afraid we'll miss the funeral entirely, so I may just send the flowers to the house instead.

It's been super stressful. The deceased is my boss's dad, and my boss is well-loved here, yet HIS boss decided to "keep it simple" and only send a card. ?!! Totally unacceptable. So I promised the people in my department that I'd take care of it myself, but trying to find anything out from here has been surprisingly difficult.

No death notice in Wednesday's Globe either. If his middle initial is M., it looks like he was a managing director at Harvard Pilgrim. They have a media relations number: 617-509-7458 that might be able to help you out before bothering the family. There's also a listing for a doctor of that name who's a psychiatrist (age 72, of that helps make sure it is the right man), his office at: (617) 636-2486.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

You're a good person, Polgara.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I love these guidelines for the picture for my passport:

  • Applicants of light complexion should avoid wearing white clothing and should have the photographs taken against a pastel-shaded background.
  • Applicants of dark complexion should wear light-coloured clothing and photographs should be taken against a white background.
  • Applicants whose hair is grey should have photographs taken against a light blue background.
  • There should be no reflection from eyeglasses or background shadows. Excess light
reflection on image is unacceptable. Light distribution should be even throughout photograph.
  • Photographs should provide a full frontal view of the head, neck and top of the shoulders with ears, as much as possible, clearly visible. Photographs should display appropriately clad images; exposed shoulders and chest are to be avoided.
  • The applicant should wear no head covering while taking the photograph. However, applicants who must wear headgear for religious reasons must indicate their religion

I wonder if Rastafari counts for the last one.

Oh, that's awesome, flea, thanks! I'll call the media relations number.

Aww, thanks, Jesse. But really, it's just the right thing to do. Several of us have lost parents during our time here, and he has always sent flowers. I was outraged and even offended on Monday when I found out the big boss just wanted to send a card.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Did you know the Guinness World Record for the furthest distance traveled by a skateboarding goat is 118 feet?
