Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.
There came a point where I decided it didn't really matter that "a coon's age" was about raccoons. There were other expressions I could use. I didn't feel I was losing any richness of expression.
There are some things I'll hang onto (denigration, for instance), but that one's just fine.

Benefit of waking up at two freaking thirty in the morning to pick CJ up? Allowing him to drive on the freeway for the first time. He did great. The ride along with the sheriff was kinda boring though. He prefers the fire ride alongs.
Me, I got more sleep last night than during a normal night. Went to sleep around 9pm, up at 2:30. Back to sleep by 4am and up at 8am. Not going to make a habit of that though.
