I miss Oz. He'd get it. He wouldn't say anything, but he'd get it.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I fell asleep before the rover landed, but now I'm looking at Mars pictures and thinking that I should go back to school and get a degree in engineering and work on building things that go to Mars. I'm really not awake enough yet to evaluate whether this is actually a good idea or not.

I woke up to NPR's first run of the rover coverage. I still can't believe it worked. When lori first described it to me, there was some hysterical laughter and a lot of 'no, REALLY?!!' from me.

Alrighty, unto the day.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Aw, I'm sad I missed the MSL watch-n-post! In my defense, it was really goddamn late on the East Coast. But hooray Curiosity!

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

You know, the whole sky-crane landing thing is straight out of science fiction, right? (Not that bouncing down with an airbag isn't, but this is even better.)

Laughing over the Mohawk flight controller. That is one attractive dude, no matter what his amusing hair is doing.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

For those who stayed up last night: Curiosity

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

I just offered someone a bottle of wine in exchange for a taxidermied bullfrog playing an upright bass.

I think my day has reached maximum surreality.

As soon as I get it (I think tonight). I believe it will be an excellent birthday present for my brother (who does in fact play bass).

I like this blog post:

MAAAAAARS!

I’m just sayin’, is all.

I love how crazy Twitter is going tonight. I love that people are gathering at Times Square chanting, “Science! Science! Science!” I think we needed this. Thank you, NASA. Life can suck sometimes… but today, humanity can be proud.

Chanting “Science! Science!" at Times Square sounds like a lot of fun.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Happy birthday, Scrappy!
