I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."

Horse jumping just came on here (I know there's a more technical term for it), and the jumps are hysterical. It's like a tour of London. I think there's a jump with Handel on it.

I have a lot of tchotchkes. All sentimental. And I hate dusting. Problem!

I beat the storm in the pool; they closed it while I was showering. And then I ran home in the first gusts which were really worse for the dust blowing off the construction site. And reminded myself running feels awesome for the first 10 strides or so, and then I hate it again. And then I climbed on the porch roof in the rain because the wind knocked a bunch of crap into the drain and it was backing up. FUNTIMES.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I got back to Pennsylvania. Now I'm trying to decide what to do about dinner. I've narrowed it down to two options -- either walk to the Chinese place down the street and get some fried rice, or drive into town (about 20 minutes) and go to the Thai restaurant. Fried rice doesn't sound overly appealing right now, but neither does driving.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Yikes. The Chief of Pediatric Surgery at Childrens Memorial here drowned this morning rescuing two kids he saw struggling in the water. There's just something so awfully - apt is not the word I want, but I don't know what is. Ugh.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

How sad and tragic and heroic and...yeah, horribly appropriate?

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Geez. Is my impression that there have been a lot of drownings in Chicago this year correct? I know undertow has been a big problem.

Because books.

God, that's awful.

I also just flashed on George Clooney saving the kid in ER, though.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

The Chief of Pediatric Surgery at Childrens Memorial here drowned this morning rescuing two kids he saw struggling in the water

Man, that is awful. What happened to the kids?

I cannot believe that Old Navy ads have Jason Priestley and Gabrielle Carteris. That's so...Jason at least must have better things to do, no?
