I do have some memento type things around, but mostly I try to keep it to things with a purpose -- picture frames or candles or boxes, for instance. My grandmother was tchotchke-mad with little animals and figurines and all kinds of stuff, and it always freaked me out.

I do not have hardly any tchotchkes. I do have a big box from Ikea that I toss ticket stubs and brochures and name tags and stuff into. Every once in a while I go through it and get rid of things that no longer make me go "aww" and put a smile on my face (or alternately make me cry)
