what types of work would you all have a daily helper do, say you had to fill 3 hours of work a day.

Thus far I have:

grocery shopping - 1 hour/week
iron 5 outfits/week - 1.5 hour/week
cooking - 1 hour/day
fold laundry - 1 hour/week
vacuum - 30 min/week
sweep - 30 min/week
dishes - 30 min/day

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I'm going to go with dragoon. It sound piratey.

I used metonymy in my final status report, and not even strictly correctly. If I get called on it and corrected, I will do a fist pump of being properly one-upped. Otherwise, I have to do something to make me feel better about still being here and still going through emails. Almost done, though. Just have to do the Out Of Office prep.

I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."

Dusting, for sure. Unless that's covered in vacuuming.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I would vacuum or sweep every day if someone else were doing it.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Ooh, a daily helper? I'd have them vacuum 30 min every other day, but we have animals. What about dusting? Watering garden? Mopping (I HATE mopping)? Cleaning fridge, once every two weeks.

I love this sentence.

dusting, ok sure. I never do, thus forget it should be done.

This is what is wrong, I've been keeping house so badly for so long I don't even know what I am not doing.

I dust, but then you just have to do it again, and I get resentful.

5 pieces of clothing really take 1.5 hours? No wonder I don't iron!

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

msbelle,

cooking might take longer than 1 hour a day (depending on the meals), dusting is good.

for me, I have random tasks that would be helpful for someone to do (especially if they have a car):

- recycle batteries, household chemical disposal, get some of my donated clothing and items organized

- pick up dry cleaning (which I rarely get done), make phone calls and/or appointments for work people to give me estimates or whatever

- do you need gardening or outside work done?
