Y'all see the man hanging out of the spaceship with the really big gun? Now I'm not saying you weren't easy to find. It was kinda out of our way, and he didn't want to come in the first place. Man's lookin' to kill some folk. So really it's his will y'all should worry about thwarting.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

It's freaky apocalyptic weather here. Lots and lots of lightning. Just in time to leave the office, woo. I look forward to seeing if we have power at home.

Quite honestly I need to write a word macro that buzzes every time I begin a sentence with "So", and every time I type the word "actually" in any context. I cut them out later. Still, I swear that if something would cure me of those two habits, that cure would cut my self-editing time by 10%.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

There was a tornado warning here earlier, but no actual tornadoes, I think. But a lot of thunder and lightning!

Can I just say, WTF to my coworker who take hours to combine PDFs using Preview, because none of us has the paid Adobe software? I just put together a zillion documents in two minutes. It was so easy! We still need the real Acrobat software, but for other reasons.

I listen to a ton of podcasts (some might call it an addiction; I might agree with them), and I've noticed that a lot of guests will respond to a question starting by saying, "So, [blah, blah, blah]." I almost expect to hear, "...right?" at the end of the first sentence. "So, there's this giant black hole at the middle of the Milky Way Galaxy, right?" Except there's no "...right?" at the end. It seems like a kind of common form of expression now. Anecdote, plural, not data, blah blah. I just think it's interesting. I think I first noticed it on non-USAian shows, but now I notice it more widely.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

There is a screaming toddler on my bus, screaming that incredibly piercing toddler scream. The mother is trying to keep him quiet by holding his mouth shut. It does not seem to be effective.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

Sigh.

The district that, until May, I worked for is most definitely looking at state takeover. They have announced payless paydays starting the first paycheck of the school year. They are trying to muddle through until the merger with a neighboring school district goes through next year, however I don't see how it's going to help matters since that district is also failing and is a scant inch from a state takeover, as well.

Despite my feelings for them, I just applied Em to one of the local charter schools. I believe in supporting my local school district and I hate taking the student funds away from them, but it's getting to the point where she is not going to get a quality education. The good tearchers are going to be leaving in droves and the administration is looking at cutting MAPES at all the elementary schools, which is one of the big reasons that I want to keep Em where she is.

Well, at least there are uniforms and that will help with the morning drama. She can wear all the skirts and dresses and tights she wants.

Hey, did you move to New Orleans without telling me?
