My family uses solar eclipses as an excuse to go to interesting places. It is kind of a Thing. So far: APO (ok, not exotic, and a partial,) southern Africa, Mongolia, Nepal and Bhutan and now Australia. My parents trip to Peru and my other travels are independent of orbital happenstance.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Wow, sara, that looks amazing. And then I'd totally call that Aussie ex and we could have outback Ayers rocking dingo shocking sex where he comes from down under...boom.

Sorry.

I think he has a kid now.

So, you know. No sexy sex. He's all ruined now.

My mother tried to get me agitated about our cousin Hughgine (I figure, if you're not agitated by that...what's the fact that he's 55 dating a 22 year old younger than some of his 9 or 10 kids gonna do?) and then remembered who she was talking to and stopped.

Except, my mother isn't supposed to think I have an opinion on age difference in relationships, because I present as pretty clearly aromantic (yes, using that word too) to her. Clearly and deliberately. Hell, maybe that's it--me shtupping a 17 year old is clearly not romantic in the least.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

My family uses solar eclipses as an excuse to go to interesting places. It is kind of a Thing.

I want them to semi-adopt me.

The one thing that I am really excited about in moving is that OMG the skies out in the desert. Magic.

Cass, it looks like they're spicy honey-roasted peanuts.

That's both a silly name and a little clever.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

sara, I'm sad for us but happy for you. But this year, we are being furloughed for all of Thanksgiving week, so I think we're going to go skiing.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

COOLEST TRIP EVER. Let's throw another eclipse on the barbie.

My parents joke this is how they are burning up our inheritance. I heartily go along with it (hell, I'd go along with it even if they weren't taking us.) Flight will be a bitch with the boys, but likely quantas and none of this pay-for-booze bullshit USAir pulled.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Ooooh. I want to go on that trip.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

My parents are burning our inheritance on my sister. To be honest, I refused assistance with the car (and she's not with hers), but what the hell kind of kid would I be if I took help while my mother was paying for cancer treatment and I could afford a car myself. So my savings looked a bit more echoey than I like for a while. I gotta job (in eternity, I fucking hope), I'm good.

I have to make a difficult decision. Maybe you guys could help throw out factors to consider?

I don't really know...
