'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

My local neighborhood (davis_square) has a community Livejournal account that has a regularly used tag "What Was THAT?" that often gets answered promptly -- it's actually kind of handy. And the Somerville official spokesperson for city hall, the delightfully named Tom Champion (who has a voice to match) makes sure to post announcements of interest to the neighborhood.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

My mother doesn't get all the fuss over Tom Champion, which makes me laugh.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Kat,

I am chuckling now because I am not sure your post endorses the book as "good." Or even not good but entertaining (e.g. Da Vinci Code). DVC really isn't good at all, but man I ran through that book like a house on fire.

I think I am less interested in reading it than I was before! Esp when you indicated that the ending might suck. Grr.

I've half-seriously suggested that the city get a Tom Champion-signal that they can project from a searchlight atop City Hall when there's trouble.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Awesome infographic of good storytelling by Pixar

Love it! I find that most of the movies/books/etc I dislike fail at #14.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

Off to see my folks this morning. Maybe I'll get a pedicure on the way home...

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Gunfire or Fireworks? has been a common game around here this summer.

That's my neighborhood's motto. (It's usually gunfire. Sad but true.)

I am Steph, but subbing city for neighborhood.

I slept through the Running of the Bulls and Doggies and Donuts, and now it's storming on and off liek woah. I need to get myself going and hit the market (which is inside).

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I get a migraine google alert, and the past couple of days it's been all Excedrin, all the time. Apparently it's off the market, and Excedrin Extra Strength is going for $144 and Excedrin Migraine for $245. As opposed to $10.

Man, I wish it worked so well for me I'd be desperate to buy it. I still can't work out when IV compazine is going to come back on the market. It's been months since I've had an effective anti-emetic. It's horrible horrible horrible.
