Natter 70: Hookers and Blow
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Mom update: She is feeling and sounding better although she is in the hospital at least until Monday. They are leaning towards pneumonia, but are still not sure and may do a lung biopsy on Monday if the mass in her lung doesn't diminish.
Me Update: Husband gets home from a week away tomorrow. I have skating and, yes, working at my goshdarn office. Possibly seeing Spiderman on Sunday night.
The thing is, right now I only commute when it's necessary to be onsite for a client (which is usually only one day, working around traffic times), and I am paid for the commute time. Otherwise I am working from home and have zero commute, which means a lot more time to just, you know, actually enjoy my life. I feel like in the last 6 months, I've learned to finally relax. I'm reading a lot more, seeing friends a LOT more, have time for my dogs, and have lots of time to garden. Going back to spending 10+ hours a week sitting in traffic is just not appealing. But it's a good opportunity, so I am weighing all options.

Well what the hell is THAT about? Sheebus.
Heh. I've only just learned what it means!!!
keep consulting. joy is the best pay.
smonster, Lindsay L., who used to work for the Institute for the Environment? I can't remember if you two knew each other. I think you did. She works for Marine Sciences now. Anyway, she's in two or three dance troupes, I can't keep track. An Italian folk dancing one, and this one that's performing tonight...some experimental collective. Idk. I got invited on Facebook, like so many things. Can you tell I'm probably not going to go? There's a bottle of wine here with my name on it. But she's resurrecting my Green Labs committee for me, so.
Mmm. Wine.

I may embroider this onto a pillow!!! If I only knew how to embroider.
msbelle is wise.
Once you lay out the pleasures of your current life vs. the potential commute it really sounds like no contest, javachik. Is there any way he could be talked into actually hiring you as a consultant so you can still have the pleasure of at least doing some work with him without tying yourself to an endless commute?
Scrappy, I'm so glad your mom is starting to feel better.
