Jessica,
do you have some special allegiance to Canada?
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Jessica,
do you have some special allegiance to Canada?

I loooooove Rookie. It's probably the site I read most after here and fb (and OKC). Please give her two big thumbs up from me, though we never really posted together here.
ita !, as an unrepentant work cryer, you have my sympathy and support. Sounds like a whole bunch of seriously unreasonable expectations to me.
Weekend: spectate at the Running of the Bulls tomorrow, put a new bulb in my headlight (not a euphemism), market and doggie play time as usual, and I hope see Beasts of the Southern Wild on Sunday.
I'm going to a climbing competition tonight! Which should be fun, even though I'm not in particularly good condition, so I don't expect to do very well. Pity they don't have a 47-and-older category for women...
The rest of the weekend is likely to involve lots of parental time. And possibly watching more of The Hollow Crown, the BBC Shakespeare series. Very pretty, with a great cast.
Do they have age categories, Consuela?
I am dancing as usual tonight, and a trainer session and date tomorrow (we'll see how that goes), Costco at some point, and a sewing class Sunday. Should be pretty good.
...of course, I really need to actually get some work done this afternoon, and I'm just not yet, but...
Holy crap I forgot about the Rookie tour. I would have brought her a muffin.
ita !, I don't understand - how many managers do you have to report to? I am sorry about the work shit and having to deal with chronic pain on top of it. It's a giant ball of suck.
Anne, I wanna see pics of the "after"!! I can't believe it's already done!
I thought Aimee and Em looked beautiful at the wedding. And people say dumb things to others all the time on Facebook and elsewhere and we have to just let them own their words and choose their battles. In other words, I wouldn't email your friend to tell her who it was who made the comment; it doesn't change the comment. And you're not responsible for it.
Come to think of it, something similar happened on my FB recently, where an acquaintance (I have met her f2f once - she's another client of my awesome dogwalker/friend) said a stupid thing on my page (on my book review of Suffering Succotash) and an actual dear friend of mine was really hurt. I didn't respond to the stupid comment, but I did let my actual dear friend know that she had every right to respond and go to town and that I wouldn't be upset at all.
Weekend Plans people?
Two different parties, and writing.
ION, Pete got me a copy of the Vanity Fair with the big "How Microsoft Lost Its Mojo" article, and I just finished reading it. No on who is still working at MSFT should read it, because they will become even more depressed than they already are, but it's accurate. The article has quotes from two former senior managers I worked with, and talks about the fiasco that was how Microsoft Reader was treated.
I don't think the Rookie tour's made it to LA yet, Allyson.
I'm seeing Neko Case tomorrow night, Spiderman matinee on Sunday. Tonight I'm going to see a dance performance by a troupe a friend is in, if I can motivate to leave the house.
Weekend plans: I'll be driving down to DC, for the sign language course I'm taking that starts Monday.
I am thinking of making a job of commenting on articles in the Jamaica Observer. Except--I think they're censoring me--my Post button is greyed out. I feel quite systematically oppressed right now.
This morning was difficult for a number of reasons. I felt a strong urge to wear my Superman belt buckle and my pearls-on-tulle necklace, and I don't own a top that can pull those together. I went with the pearls, but given the t whisper meeting t /whisper maybe I needed superpowers.
And, dammit, if I'd had half an idea, I'd have brought a chocolate bar from home. I'll have to make do with crap from vending machine...
