"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

msbelle,

would it help to have a conversation with your boss next week?

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

well maybe, but he is out for a week and a half on vacation. That is part of the frustration, he has never talked to me about any of this (and I was warned by a former asst. of his that he wouldn't), then he has this unschedule meeting with me produces a written warning with HR witness and then leaves for the day.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Gack, msbelle. That's definitely uncalming.

I wrangled my apartment mostly into obedience, but it took me the better part of a day. I need to not let stuff overwhelm me. But at least when my mother asks tomorrow if it's tidy enough for a cleaner--the answer will finally be yes.

You can get upholstery and carpet cleaning from the same people, right? I seem to have dumped something at the base of the lounge, and the carpet is...well, it's vacuumed! I want cleaner than that, though.

Well, it's hit 82 downstairs. Given it was 103/106 (depends on who you ask) today, and lows haven't dropped below the mid 80s, with highs at or near a hundred for the past week, I'd say that isn't doing too bad, with no AC on this level, just the upstairs' cranked. It's currently 94 out, with 50% humidity at 10 pm.

That said, I am soaking my feet in cold water. Today, while maybe not the hottest this week, was definitely the worst in terms of humidity and air quality. Uhg. I can't believe I'm looking forward to Monday, when the mid-80s will feel positively cool.

Because books.

I win at today. I got to see Raq and d. at Sox's birthday party, and then we saw The Avengers. All the happy, right here.

Trust my rage

After two weeks of heat and dry, it finally rained today and it was around 65 this afternoon. Such a relief. Hopefully it will make its way east.

brillig

I want to watch the Olympics, but hopefully without the "Only Americans are competing, and if they're not expected to win an event then no one wants to see those events, right?" bias. And definitely without all the "heartwarming" background stories. I don't have cable, so apparently I'm locked out of NBC's online coverage. Does anyone know how someone as iconoclastic and curmudgeonly as I can find Olympic coverage?
