Indeed. And while the government says they don't negotiate, they actually do: they just might have to get approval from higher up the chain to meet your salary requirements. When I took this job originally, they offered me the bottom of the grade, and I pointed out that it was a $10K pay cut. Once I'd provided proof of my current salary, they moved the offer up a couple of steps to something roughly equivalent. But it took six weeks for the final offer to come through, and I was Very Stressed Out by the time it did.

That round of thunderstorms was unexpected...

It didn't rain much, just wind, thunder and lightning. Looks like it pretty much passed just north of here. When I checked the weather at 5, no sign or forecast of them at all.
