I'm going to Ikea as soon as some of my clothes are dry. I feel bad that they're open regular hours. Also, the big blue Ikea bags make awesome laundry totes. And only $0.60. I'm buying a couple more today. My life, she is so exciting.

It was crappy and rainy this morning, so we ditched our beach plans and went to the Natural History Museum instead to let the kids run around under the giant whale. Then we got Shake Shack for lunch and the guy refunded my money because we waited half an hour for our food (after ordering, I mean, not in line). And then I put the money in my pocket and somewhere on the way back to the museum terrace it fell out, so I wound up paying for lunch anyway, kind of. Probably won't see live fireworks tonight since the Hudson river isn't really visible from anywhere in Brooklyn. (There are smaller fireworks at Coney Island we could go to, but I don't feel like fighting the crowds in this weather.)

I gave myself a red, white, and blue polka dot manicure. The K-Bug and I hit the mall. She needs new clothes for her new job. Now we are awaiting Magic Mike, followed by Brave.
No live fireworks as the vast majority of the public shows have been cancelled and all personal fireworks are banned this year. Kinda depressing but understandable.

I need to return a phone call from my sister-in-law; she wants advice on proper citation in a paper. A paper that is due tomorrow. Yes, I can answer the question easily, but I'm pretty annoyed that she called at the last minute on a holiday, and never calls just to say hello, or comes to visit or anything. She's 45, not a last-minute undergrad.
We have made a flag cake and have plans for later, but Dillo is being fairly impossible (two hours too little sleep last night) and how he is going to make it through fireworks starting at 10pm I have no idea.
It's still Georgia-hot; it's been a week now and expected to continue through the weekend.
