Thanks, sj. I seem to recall actually making some of those recently, or maybe they were Scots griddle cakes. Something like that, though: a dense slightly-sweet biscuit with raisins, cooked on the stovetop.
ION, I seem to have failed my online computer security test. I'm going to assume that it's because I was too conservative in my answers; maybe it is acceptable to check eBay during lunch after all. (The frustrating bit is they don't tell you which questions you got wrong, which is not conducive to learning!)
What's the what with Mos Def/Yasiin Bey? Which name is he going under, and should I file his pics under the former or the latter?

The two are probably very similar. And this started a conversation with TCG about how we both really want to go back to Wales. We were only there for a few hours.
He's Yasiin Bey now -- there was a long piece on the Awl about him recently.
So should I call him Yasiin on the website, or go with the name that has the most familiarity behind it?
Interview was rescheduled for Thursday.
So my SIL sent my sister & me each a $200 gift certificate for a famous high-end local spa (the Claremont, for the Bay Area-istas). And after examining the price list, I have discovered that $200 will get me a long massage, and... that's about it. The day packages, with two treatments and a meal, start at $330 and go up. A 50-minute massage is $150 there.
Bzuh? it was really generous of her, but I wish she'd gone for one of the less prestigious spas, we'd get more for our money...
ETA: And yes, definitely a "my diamond shoes are too tight" problem, I am aware.
Happy Birthday, sj!
Sorry about the apartment, Jesse.
Future interview ~ma, Tom!
FWIW, Consuela, the one time I got to luxuriate at the Clairmont Spa, the whole experience was more than just the massage. You aren't rushed in and out, you have full use of the sauna, and I don't remember what all else, but it felt like I got more than just an expensive massage. (Note, this was over 10 years ago...so...who knows what it is like now)
