Natter 70: Hookers and Blow
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Our power just came back on! I'm still just cautiously optimistic though because a friend had her power come on just to have it go off again an hour later. So, we'll see...
Zenkitty, you should just do what you feel up to doing! Do you just have one option for working at home away from home? Bob was plotting what he was going to do if our power hadn't come on by tomorrow morning. I think it would involve friend's house plus maybe a couple different coffee shops. Hoping he really can just be working here in his office!
My family in Columbus are supposed to have no power for another week! And she's 7 months pregnant.
The camp where we just dropped Casper had no power from 5pm Friday until noon today, and then it just cut out again while we were there...
My options are hotel, cafe, sister's house. I would rather be in a hotel, but, expensive plus as of today all booked up! Plus I kinda don't want to pay and then my powr comes back, y'know? Sister has power but I'm not 100 percent comfortable there (cranky niece lives there, not sister). Ill prob do cafe for a couple hours. Then I can feel like I tried.
Kinko's used to be set up so you could work there all day if you needed to, with a desk and wifi and whatnot. I forget the details of how it worked or if you had to pay anything or what, it's a long time ago that that info was useful to me (back when it was Kinko's and not FedEx, for one thing). If there's a FedEx store near you that has power, that might give you another viable option.
Or you could take the day off, I would fully support that.
Call the UVA library reference desk and ask if they have guest internet access. Many public institutions do.
Also, in "the east coast's weather, 6-8 hours earlier" news, we have a storm front coming through right now but it's a lot less violent than Friday's; more your run of the mill summer evening thunderstorm.
I'm doing research for my sister who's writing a letter to the editor (it's that time in the ! family once again...) responding to some major "gay penises touch gay butts and that ruins everything" posturing in an article in a major Jamaican newspaper: [link]
While looking up numbers for "not all gay men have anal sex" I came across a weird site: [link] . It's remarkably heteronormative for an M2M site--it posits that catching makes you a pussy (for varying degrees of literal), and therefore all gay Men (it's a thing) should not just engage in frottage, but it seems that intercrural is tainted, and the only thing that will let you retain your glorious manliness is phallus to phallus sex.
Anal penetration, which at present is extolled by the mainstream gay male community, is by contrast inherently unequal, unnatural, and effeminizing, and is a vector for a host of physical ills, including some which are among the most terrifying known to humankind.
That's pretty--special.
Now I have to find her reports of the mental health of kids with two gay fathers. The first results I'm finding are all about lesbian parenting and the world not ending.
Must go deeper.
Must go deeper.
I see what you did there.
I just found this site 2houses which is a web tool designed to facilitate co-parenting with different households. It has tools like a shared calendar, and medical information store for the kid(s) in question.
It's not written by someone good with English--their contact page is so error-ridden that I emailed them about it. A more OCD person than my amazingly well-adjusted self might have gone further than the first error in the first sentence and suggested they have another look.
I got speculoos at Trader Joe's today! Um, what am I supposed to do with it, again? I also got fresh figs and prosciutto. I do know what to do with them.
