I am trying to talk Bob into seeing how much a room at the hotel monaco would be for the night. Love that place!

I was without power from about 7:30 last night until 1:30 am. I went downtown for dinner and beverages, and the skies opened up 15 minutes later. On the way home I saw a bunch of debris in the road and a few trees down, but it seems Frederick city escaped the worst. The rest of the county NSM.
Jess, good lord. I am so glad your parents are OK. MoCo is still a mess. A friend posted on FB that Gaithersburg looks like a war zone.
And because it so very needs to be said:
Teppy and Tim, and flea and family are some of the most fabulous people ever. I had such a wonderful time with them last Sunday. Thank you all for taking time out of your weekend to entertain me. HMOG, Graeter's is everything Steph says and more.
(Casper and Dillo could run the entire eastern seaboard power grid with their reserves of energy. So much fun, and so very smart.)
Thank you for reminding me I need to post those pictures!
And we had a great time, too. It was such a perfect way to round out my birthday weekend, seriously.
I'm watching Wimbledon coverage on ESPN. There are Rolex commercials during pretty much every break, and I'm pretty sure it's Ian McShane extolling the virtues of grass lawns and tradition and watches.
He hasn't cursed once.
We lost power about 11 p.m. last night, and the tree in our front yard came down. Fortunately, it did not hit the house or the power lines, but still, huge tree down means huge clean up cost. I was up watching the basement for flooding much of the night. My sister drove up from Richmond and took K home with her so that I could work on clean up and get some sleep. More storms expected tonight. Both water processing plants are without power, so we also have water restrictions (it's safe to drink, but they cannot replenish supply).
Signing off now to save battery power!
I'm glad folks here are pretty okay.
I was watching a procedural this season which featured a large municipal power loss, and the way they were instructed to save cellphone batteries totally ignored the fact that they were driving everywhere, and car chargers...cops all have car chargers for their phones don't they? That's my go to backup.
And my last car and this one will charge devices even when the car isn't running. Unfortunately the Beemer doesn't have a charger in the boot, so I can't safely leave anything charging in there. But if I'm in the car...totes perfectamundo.
Holy crap, y'all! I was sad that my shoes didn't fully dry by the end of the workday yesterday....
Just looked at a few apartments, and I think I'm just going to take one of them. It's nice enough, good enough price, good enough location. I saw a cheaper one that was OK, but semi-crappy and not an ideal location -- basically the (more expensive) equivalent of my place in Queens that I grew to hate, so I don't think the savings is actually worth it. So I guess that's done?
Unfortunately the Beemer doesn't have a charger in the boot, so I can't safely leave anything charging in there.
Wait, some cars do have chargers in the trunk?
That's good, right? When will you move?
