The temperature has dropped from 107 to 105. It's not much of a help.
Also, I need to recover from a nasty adrenaline spike. When I came home today, the cat was not at the door as per usual. He didn't appear when I called out, not even when I used the tactical nuke of cat summons, "where's [neighbor cat]?" Not in any of the usual hiding spaces.
At this point I freak out, as I had contractors in the house this morning, so my first thought was that they accidentally let him out. After some searching and calling outside, I give another check inside, and the little guy is hiding under the sofa in the back room, clearly terrified by something. I coaxed him out, and he was still wide-eyed and jittery.
He's calmed down now, but I'm still reeling a little bit from thinking my elderly indoor kitty was wandering around outside in the 100+ heat.
