It looks like the only acceptable property to us (the only one we put in an application for) will probably be one that we lease! the realtor liked our application (I guess the murder convictions don't show up on our credit reports after all!) and will be meeting with the owners tomorrow.

Here's a question: the realty agency who is doing the rental wants the deposit in the form of a cashier's check. Can someone tell me why they need that and why I can't send a personal check and have them wait for the check to clear?

I have to pay $12 to do a wire transfer because I will not be in town to provide the cashier's check.
