I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."

sumi (Wimbledon spoilers):

I'm about to pass out. He's down 2 sets to 1, and it's 6-6 in the fourth set tiebreak.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Interesting New Yorker article on Chinese attempts to understand our health care politics:

"So, Let Me Explain How American Health Care Works" : The New Yorker

In the final minutes of his show, after the cartoon finished, Gao tried to unknot an even harder puzzle: How did American political discourse get to the point where it is today? On that one, no amount of American experience had prepared him for what he has encountered. “I once watched a debate between some important congressmen on TV,” he said. One of their arguments: “Why should we, people who work hard and pay our taxes, pay more taxes for those people who eat a lot and don’t exercise so that they can have health insurance?” He gave a bewildered look, and continued. The issue was deeper than health care, he explained. “In America, there is no unified idea that ‘democracy and freedom are great, and everyone should be equal.’ That’s not the case. When they talk about democracy, freedom, and equality, it is more like a kind of chess.”

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Oh, hey...keeper.com is not the website of my password locker software.

I paid for a solution so I could have my passwords replicated to a number of devices, as well as backed up to the cloud.

I just logged into a couple of devices, and EMPTY. Motherfuckers, no. I hope this change hasn't propagated to my Mac. Jesus. So much of my brain is in that.

I discovered it because I managed to lock myself out of the disk encryption app on my work machine.

It just gets worse from there...

I would love a way that's both secure and accessible, but what are you gonna do to fight bugs?

So, randomly, Josh Groban just tweeted that Adele is pregnant.

People are just dropping all kinds of news on the Friday before July 4, huh.

Oh, and in other news...Walgreens has decided I'm getting a duplication of therapies, and won't fill the prescription I dropped off yesterday.

"The systems says you're taking X as well as Y. So I have to..."

"Have to what? I am taking both those meds. Can't you just tell the system that, or are you gonna run the risk of not refilling this medication (this is month #3 of me being on both meds) that I run out of today and then shortly go into withdrawal for?"

They're calling my doctor, but I can never get him when I need him.

Nothing personal, the pharmacist assured me. Just...due to events in Florida, they're cracking down.

The pharmacist I saw on Tuesday? Was personal. And her due diligence was very useful. Both discount and right meds.

This guy? Not feeling him so much. Like, no need to tell me three times it's not personal. Dude, make it personal or whatever it takes to resolve this quickly.
