A local garden center was having a "Shades of Gay" event today that was rained out. The post on Facebook says, "Apparently drag queens bring rain. I suggest you all get one for your own gardens asap!"
Natter 70: Hookers and Blow
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
I have an eight am pain management appointment and a seven thirty meeting I can't miss. Crap. I never updated my personal calendar. So dumb.
The usual Utah summer activity is upon us--the hills are burning. 4000 acres across the lake, ie, 20 miles away, are blazing nicely. The wind has shifted and is bringing the smoke over my house. My lungs hate me for not living in a damper climate.
There have been 400 fires so far in Utah this year. 20 in the last month or so that have been started by target shooters in the scrubland across the lake. But that darned gubmint ain't gonna tell us where we can and cannot exercise our God-given 2nd Amendment rights.
Maybe Corey Booker should quit as Mayor and become a full time superhero since he seems to be a lot better at the latter than former.
They have a computer generated video showing what is supposed to happen, and it is AWESOME. My husband goes into cackles of geekiness.
I cackled with geeky glee and clapped my hands and jumped around the den after watching that video. No, really. I explained to Leo the Cat that it has to go exactly right the very first time and there's no way to test it first and it's just awesome and MAD, and even he seemed impressed.
You know, I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that Elementary was going to suck because a Holmes adaptation with an American lead is doomed to fail. I can't remember where I read that now.
Probably the internet.
Anyway, I just saw my first trailer, and I did a bouncy thing. I can't wait to find out if I like it.
I'm sure Mars is cool too.
House doesn't count because Hugh Laurie isn't actually American?
Neither does Elementary, considering JLM isn't, either.
I did hear that, too, ita. On Tumblr. I made the same eyeroll I did the first time I heard someone say Gary Oldman did a really good English accent.
It's hard to pick the single point on which that assertion fails. Embarrassment of riches, really.
I checked the stairwell on my way out of the office, and the Post It is still there. And then I bumped into a guy taking the stairs down from the 6th (I was coming down from 12) so apparently all the cool kids use the stairs now. But, like me, he was surprised to learn people are going *up*. We've both only done that once.
I snapped a pic of the jacket in the bathroom before I left: [link] I'm totally not as good at this as Jilli. Definitely not drawing the eye with composition either.
Bat jacket! BAT JACKET!
I'm totally not as good at this as Jilli.
Dude, for the Goth at the Office photos, I am willing to stand in the restroom looking ridiculous to anyone who walks in while I take 15 -20 photos. Then I look through them, pick the best 3 or 4, and send them to Pete to make him choose the final photo. Not to mention reading various posts on how to stand and hold my head so photos look halfway decent. (Hi, have I mentioned my vanity?)
In conclusion, BAT JACKET! So awesome.
