Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

48 and foggy on the Oregon Coast

Wow. We're supposed to be low 80s today. I might regret having all of the windows open when we get there but the fresh air is nice.

but the medical community and Lady Luck conspired to give her cancer-free CAT scans and blood tests, so I'm going have to say...I don't feel bad. BECAUSE I'M BUSY FEELING RELIEVED.

That is wonderful! I am feeling huge relief on your behalf as well. Really good news. Wow.

Let this clean blood test overflow and spill on to as many people as need it.

Dad had a blood test on Monday and goes to the chemo oncologist tomorrow. I hope he's getting some of that overflow. No scans scheduled for a month currently. But I am hoping the blood test is good and am anxious about whether they are going to recommend any chemo.

Man, that's good to hear, because I am in a FOUL mood.

That's a lot of stress. And I am sorry your dad had to be redirected. I feel like I sometimes need (try) to do that with mom. The urge to do SOMETHING concrete is so overwhelming that it's hard to step back and figure out the most effective thing. I'm sure I am guilty of it too at times.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Good lord, Sophia. Shouldn't there be a bunch of health care available right near your job, or is that not how it works?

Amy - Jun 20, 2012 11:57:21 am PDT #10518 of 30001
Because books.

That is a shitty day, Consuela. Booze later? And chocolate?

Sophia, the receptionist really should call for you, because they can usually get things scheduled sooner if it's urgent. Or is there another dermatologist you could try?

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

somehow I have to find a dermatologist to be seem by in the next couple of days, because my doctor thinks it is fairly serious.

If your doctor thinks it's so serious, then he needs to do something to get you in to a dermatologist. He's got to know you can't just walk in to a specialist's office with no wait.

This.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

Sophia, the receptionist really should call for you

We just went to e-record, so what she does is submit a request on the computer for them to call me. I am not sure that that works as well as a phone call.

They haven't called and are now closed, so I will call tomorrow and also will call the other dermatologists.

I also had blood drawn, so even though I have no other symptoms, if I have an infection it will show and I guess he will call in antibiotics. Apparently, if it is the mild form, and the instigating things (drug or infection) is removed, it resolves in 2 - 6 weeks and he does not want to give me steroids unless absolutely necessary because of my "pre-diabetes", which he is back to calling it.

Oh, and Jesse- I can see the healthcare from my office! Maybe I should show up in person to make an appointment!

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

Great news, ita !!

Dullest and most inexplicable comic ever: Nancy

eta: That sounds dreadful, Sophia. I hope you can get to a dermatologist quickly.

Because books.

Oh god, I forgot about Nancy.

he does not want to give me steroids unless absolutely necessary because of my "pre-diabetes"

I'm not sure that's necessary -- you're not diabetic now, and if steroids will clear it up, that's the way you have to go. As soon as you stopped using them, they wouldn't affect your blood sugar anymore anyway. I had shots for Ben's lungs when I went into preterm labor with him, even though I had gestational diabetes at the time. As long as you're monitored, it would be fine.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

I find the one where they are artsy mothers and a daughter totally inexplicable--what is it called--9 Chickweed Lane. I can't tell any of the characters apart.

Connie Neil - Jun 20, 2012 12:29:11 pm PDT #10524 of 30001
brillig

9 Chickweed Lane's got a cat, so I enjoy it.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Yay for the good news, ita!

The thing that bugs me about 9 Chickweed Lane is the total and complete lack of chins on any of the characters. Okay, maybe one guy has a chin, the beefy ballet dancer, but that's it.

The two I can never tell apart are the mom and the daughter in Foxtrot.
