I keep making jewelry, but I very rarely wear jewelry. And I think it's too pretty to sell, because I always make it in my favorite colors. So it sits there, staring at me reproachfully.
Which may be OK, because I made it to please me, and when I wear the pieces no one else seems to care, so perhaps I'll treat it like art and leave it hanging where I can enjoy it.
Arrrgh, both the editor I'm working with and my Big Boss have ideas for a revamped product cover that they can't articulate to me other than it not being anything like the comps I've already made for them.
My solutions require walls: [link] and for necklaces, a rack with hooks and curlicues to hook on yet more danglies: [link]
Oh, man, those wire fleur de lis style hooks are beautiful. But a lot more wall than I have, dammit.
I think it was supposed to be a scarf hook or something. I found it in a hardware store. But it works well. Could you mount something on a door?
If you want tabletop stuff, maybe look for commercial-aimed jewelry display racks?
She's not to blame for the circumstances she finds herself in, but it seems that every single guy ran over her the same way and she didn't try and do anything about it. I get that she might not have a snappy comeback the first, oh, couple times, but that's not what it's about.
I'm not even to te end of the article and my eyes are rolling. I want to tell her that she's not being continually treated like this because she's a girl but because she just way too passive. People aren't going to magically know you want to play the game if you don't say something. And se suggested maybe she's just supposed to shut up? Honey, you haven't even said anything yet. Passive aggressive articles are not empowerment. If you want to play the game, use the damn controls. They are right in front of you.
And it's not because she wears mascara. I regularly play Diablo III in glitter eye liner.
I am not sure how many ways I can try to explain that my judgement of her behaviour isn't victim-blaming. I am only criticising how she reacted to the scenario, not her for causing it in the first place. But some people have a hard time seeing that point of view.
Yes, the guys are sexist shits. She is also a fragile flower. It wouldn't have prevented them from acting like sexist shits, but she might have gotten another result at the very end any of those times.
Unrelatedly,
I don't care what bon says.
Supernatural Blu Rays on my TV are the sexiest thing ever.
She's not to blame for the situation and it shouldn't be like that but nothing is going to change if you shut up and accept it. And even in the article I don't feel like she thinks she has an agency and it's her own article. The situation isnt right or fair but it is also not self correcting.
