It's -23 here. (Really 12C.) Thank you large fog bank parked off the coast.

I don't have a/c. Until a week ago I didn't even have ceiling fans. I loooove my ceiling fans. I need to find time to move everything out of the bedroom so I can have one in there, too (and refinished floors and fresh paint). And yes, being close to the lake is a wonderful thing.
I'm having a Tom Collins. It's a lovely thing on a hot, hot day when the inside of one's house smells like paint.
It hit 99 degrees here. Thank God we got the air conditioner into the bedroom, or Hubby would be in the hospital by now. Or parked in the beer cave of the nearby convenience store with a book again.
Here in NY, it’s the perfect weather for knuckleballs! For all the attention that Santana’s no-no got, it’s RA Dickey who is having a Sy Young season. His strikeout to walk ratio is insane.
Speaking of "it's hot," I need clothes advice. I am having dinner with the head of the search committee Wednesday night, just her and me. She's a librarian with children in their 20s. I'll be at the zoo with my kids until 5pm, then probably straight to the dinner, but might be able to find a place to change, like a Starbucks bathroom. It will be 90+ degrees. I'm thinking linen blouse, wear shorts to the zoo, put on a skirt for the dinner? Go business skirt (knee-lenth suit-style) or long linen skirt? I have a darling dress I'd love to wear with a cardigan, but it is a little short and a little open at the neck for a 60 year old librarian I think.
The next day is an all-day interview, and again, 90+ degrees, but I think we will be mostly inside, with maybe a walk to a campus lunch place or a car. I was planning to wear my grey wool pants, and a 3/4 sleeve cotton jacket with Mandarin collar which is sort of olive green. Too wintry? If so, what the hell do I wear instead?

And he's a geek and a huge reader! I adore him.
I was just skimming R.A.'s biography at B&N recently. Pretty fascinating story when he discovered he didn't have a UCL and lost his big draft bonus.
I'd argue that R.A.'s one-hitter was more of a no-hitter (with two errors by Wright) than Santana's no-hitter (with an actual hit by Beltran).
There's a documentary about him and Tim Wakefield (called Knuckler, I think).
Could you do the long linen for the dinner and the business skirt for the all-day thing?

Me, too. And a friend told me about the documentary, which I want to see. I also want to pick up his book.
