This may not even apply to you, Cash, but FWIW, my fingernails peel like onions if I paint them with polish that has formaldehyde in it. Nothing else causes them to do that.
Oh, it applies! I can't even get a professional mani anymore. I can't stand what formaldehyde does to them. I only use formaldehyde free products at home but they are still naturally very thin.
Which sucks because my mom has awesomely strong, talon-like nails but I got Dad's paper-thin ones.
