"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

... and, it looks like my current employers do not have any reporting category for jury duty. I may well not get paid for fulfilling my civic duty. Woohoo.

I thought that was a federal law.

Our wings are not tired.

I think the law only mandates time off to serve; not for mandatory salary reimbursement for time lost due to jury service.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

Uh, I'm pretty sure it's Christmas that falls during Hanukkah, technically. What with the 8 nights and all.

D and I are atheist/agnostic family! I get cred for ANY holiday decos, much TWO religious holidays I have no spiritual connection to!

And Ginger, M (and D) are OBSESSED with Legos. You win! I am giving this to D as a project. AWESOME. (M's mother may plotz, but she can just...go ahead.)

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Oh wow. Trench Bridge, A Pedestrian Bridge Below Water Level

The Trench Bridge by Dutch architecture firm RO&AD is a pedestrian bridge that is almost entirely below water level. The bridge allows visitors to access Fort de Roovere, a 17th century Dutch fortification surrounded by a water-filled moat.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Good lord. I just commented to a co-worker on his weight loss. As I said it, I realised that should be off-limits, so I followed up by saying "Oh my god, you're not dying of anything awful, are you?"

Because that fixes things.

At which point I said "I mean, is it on purpose and a good thing?" to which he said "Yes, I'm working very hard at it." So it was alright. But, jesus. Way to not speak in public.

not for mandatory salary reimbursement for time lost due to jury service.

Oh, right. I can see that being done on a state by state basis (MA demands the first three days if it goes on that long; afterwards the court reimburses in some capacity).

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

At which point I said "I mean, is it on purpose and a good thing?" to which he said "Yes, I'm working very hard at it."

Phew! I hate it when I become the person who says those things. When I rant about "What kind of person would SAY those things?!?!?!?!?!?!??!"

Exactly! And then you're three words into the sentence, and... shit. There's no way out.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

I'm kind of pissed off. Andrew Sullivan just printed a letter I wrote (in part) and then wrote that I (with the others he printed) was going to lengths to excuse the witness in the Sandusky case.

Which I clearly was not. Unless he's just referring to the letter below mine, in which case, I'm confused.
