Well things in Occupy Burlington have taken a bad turn. A protester, (possibly a veteran) died of a self inflicted gun shot wound yesterday and so the mayor and police are shutting down the camping.
It looks like the UU church maybe opening its doors to protesters (there were only about 80 people camping as part of Occupy Burlington)
I actually love a chocolate Ensure drink, Amy--I used to drink them during all day training at krav. Everyone thought I was gross, but chocolate! So I win.
However, when I'm gagging (I wonder if the left thumb trick will work for this?), they are way too rich.
they're sort of obligated to converse, but whatever
I have to admit I sort of pinned down a nurse that way today. It could have been a cursory question about portacath hygiene, but I kinda drew it out because it was fun.
Ginger, Perkins, what extra efforts did your nurses go to when they were accessing the portacath? Today's nurse, for the first time, barely did anything extra. Cursory dab of chloraprep, and she was in. She's the first not to double glove, or multiple swab. Nurse before her even masked up and offered me one, which I declined.
Such a random peeve, but whatever: My coworker has got to stop saying she taught "in the Bronx," when she was at HORACE MANN. (Second-best prep school in the country, $37K/year
My coworker has got to stop saying she taught "in the Bronx,"
Seriously. Everyone knows it is "in da Bronx." Jeez!

My sister went there for kindergarten and first grade. Trying to tell people who don't know NYC about where I lived when I was little is difficult. "In New York. No, not Manhattan, the Bronx. No, that's the South Bronx, we lived in Riverdale. Riverdale is ... well, it's in the Bronx. But ...."
My sister went to public school for second grade, because she hated Horace Mann (other kids teased her for not being rich enough), but the public school down the block from our apartment was the one profiled as the good Bronx school in "Savage Inequalities."
My laptop just crashed spectacularly, and then made a crazy ticking clock sound until I turned it off. Yikes.
Thank the gods for Ben's netbook.
ita !, as I recall, the nurses put on clean gloves and cleaned the area around it with Betadine and with alcohol swabs.
