That rocks.

the site says they send about 10 e-mails a day
Holy shit, seriously??
I get a digest with all the e-mails in one. I think it's in profile settings or something. I was guided there when I signed up.

On the BigTent thing? I think I just realized that -- when I signed up I picked "get news from Web" or whatever, instead of having it e-mailed to me. I didn't realize the "news" was the same thing as the e-mails.
Hey right back, you guys!
The baby? Hmm, the most recent news include crawling on his stomach (no corner is now safe! And no matter how much we clean the floor, the front of his clothes is always a mess of dust), developing a taste for eating shoes (and getting to them no matter where they are, see above re: crawling), preferring what the grownups around him are holding to any toy held and waved in front of him in failing attempts to distract him, and still making us wonder how we won the biggest lottary ever and lucked into having him with us.
Hooray for new Natter, the board being unbroken, and for Nilly! Also Nilly baby news, which: awwww.
Nilly, I'm pretty sure the baby lucked into you guys!
If you meet anybody who's well-adjusted, effective, productive, AND happy in their life for more than a few months at a time, there's something seriously wrong with them.
Ok, I'll bite - tell me what's seriously wrong with me. (Or maybe I misunderstand what "effective" and "productive" mean here.)
My sleep psychologist brought out the woo tonight. I'll keep going for the relaxation techniques, but the bit where my electrical field from my heart extends out beyond my body and I can sense people with it (20 feet away!)
So THAT'S what a personal bubble is!
So far she's suggested deep breathing and a pre-sleep hourlong relaxation routine that doesn't involve TV or computers.
I don't have any links handy, but the TV/computer thing has real science behind it - that much direct bright light can really fuck with your brain's ability to recognize "bedtime." (I've been making a conscious effort to read on the Kindle in bed instead of the iPad. Except my Kindle doesn't have Plants vs Zombies, so...yeah. OTOH, my insommnia is entirely kid-based and will go away on its own when I'm no longer programmed to wake up with the baby at 3am.)

Yeah, if you don't sign up to recieve the Big Tent emails, you won't get any. I get the daily digest and do a lot of skimming.
ita mentioned affect of bath or shower on sleep. What my physical therapist told me (so can't vouch for scientific accuracy) is that baths or showers both relax and energize. But the energy lasts an hour at most, while the relaxation last longer. So what it is worth, the rec is to finish showering or bathing a little OVER an hour before bedtime, for optimum sleep benefit.

Baby! Yay!
The crawling/dust thing reminds me of my favorite-ever chindogu item - the Baby Mop [link]
