Students are starting to gather outside the administration building, chanting "fuck the board." Estimate last night was 1,000 students rallying downtown, but they mostly went home when they saw the police show up with riot gear. I hope nothing happens tonight.
I really don't get it.
No matter what your loyalties, raping children ought to ping your conscience. Raise some red flags. It should check you.
When you hear that one of your coaches is fucking a 10 year old boy against his will in the locker room? You should want to put that coach in jail.
Your first thought should not be: "I need to protect the university!"
Followed by: "Hey, I know that guy and I should protect him."
Anyway, I'm sure the gist of the Trustees meeting was along that line.
Students are starting to gather outside the administration building, chanting "fuck the board."
Well, fuck them. Dumbass tribal loyalties. Grow a pair of ethics, kids.
That's a great story, Connie. Really *intent* is key and easily lost in translation.
So what are people's thoughts on pet insurance? I've never had a pet that has belonged to me medical-expense-wise, and it all sounds mighty spendy, which is fine, but not until I'm actually able to afford it, so I'm just wondering. Has anyone had, used, liked it? Why, yes, I want a rescue kitty as soon as I can realistically afford to care for one.
My parents' got it after one of their dogs had spendy, spendy cancer and no insurance. It's been well utilized on at least one subsequent puppy and saved a fortune in vet bills. I just emailed to see what kind they have.
I wish I had with Kittenish (hi, sarameg in not wanting to add the bills up) but once I knew about it, she was old and infirm.
From the PS pres's letter of resig:
I would never hesitate to report a crime if I had any suspicion that one had been committed.
Fuck you, you did just that. College employees might not be mandated reporters, but I have basically NO sympathy for anyone who does not report witnessing, or having a subordinate report witnessing, a crime. You do not have the authority to investigate and judge in the justice system. But you had a civic and moral responsibility. You failed. Fuck you.
CNN says "Legendary Penn State coach Joe Paterno and school President Graham Spanier have lost their jobs effective immediately, university trustees announced. "
That sounds like fired. It's a start.
Good riddance.
Spanier's statement: [link]
Disgusting. He signed-off on barring Sandusky from bringing minors on campus but still he's shocked, shocked that anything untoward may have prompted such a bizarre step.
I'm sorry I read his statement. What a revolting piece of shit he is.
Oh, Suzi, I am so sorry.
At the very least, couldn't this have been reported to campus police for full investigation? They certainly do have the duty to bring in additional law enforcement.
I checked Facebook and it had the Yahoo news.
Someone on there said that Joe Paterno had "no direct connection" with the case and should get a "sanding O". I pointed out that an eye witness told him about Sandusky raping a child. It's not like this went around him or everyone side stepped him. He knew, he told someone and then, I guess, let it drop.
