Massive plagiarizing in a new thriller, by a guy who resents the way other novelists produce tripe and get published: [link]
He even scammed the Paris Review!
Consuela,
the scope of the plagiarism is SHOCKING. I cannot believe it.
Argh. Someone tell me to get some fucking work done? Because my self-discipline thingamawhoozie, which never worked in the first place, now seems to have wandered off altogether.
Amych - get some fucking work done.
Consuela, the commenters who are calling the plagarism homage and mash-up and satire have damaged my eyes.

I was just about to post something similar. There's so much wrong, and so deeply so, with those commenters' understanding of writing and music and, well, plagiarism that it's not even possible to know where to begin. Almost worse than the ignorance is the weird smugness and certainty that nobody has ever, ever figured this out before: "You literary snobs with all your talk of so-called 'plagiarism' and 'theft,' you have no idea how irrelevant and immaterial are your petty concerns. After all, what is originality? Aren't we all telling the same stories over and over, and aren't we all plagiarizing some original speaker of the language with every word we say? Bet you never thought about that, did you?"
