I just ordered school uniforms for Grace. It's hard to find school uniforms in Toddler sizes.
So the giant grant I was working on at school? the staff voted 25 to 18 to NOT submit it. That was pretty irksome and I was super annoyed. One of the women who was crowing that we didn't have to do it? She's an out of the classroom person who was hired by the previous principal and needs this principal's approval and line in the budget to stay? I think she voted herself out of a job... and she was pleased.
The net result -- we will no longer be eligible for $1.8 million and we will lose ~3 and 6 teachers next year.
Essentially, though, what it means is that we will be restructured, everyone fired and have to reapply for their jobs or they are going to give up the school to a charter.
The staff is so short-sighted.
WTF?! You ALWAYS go after grants.
Holy shit, Kat. That's absurd.
What in the holy hell, seriously.
Yeah, seriously, wtf? You might go for grants and not get them, but you don't not go for them.
Oh jeez louise, Kat. That's... that's... boggling. Why didn't they want to go for the grant? Did it have something to do with the restructuring?
I'm being played.
Pumpkin was upstairs doing her "I'm lonely" cry. I snuck around to the stairs, and she and Loki were less than a foot apart on the same step as she yodelled. Only when they saw me did she hiss and bolt.
Stinkers.
Congrats VEEP Brenda!
Ugh, Kat. What is wrong with people?
I survived the two day interpersonal skill training sessions they made us do at work, and then I got to go to Juliana's restaurant and have a really good drink and food and now I am home and the week is over.
The Maya were the ones with the thorns and the tongue piercing, yes.
(The cleverness of the psychedelic suppositories is that most of the natural ones are bitter enough to make you throw up, so while it seems weird to administer one that way, it actually makes it more pleasant to undergo. The Maya didn't lack for cleverness.)
Burrell, we wouldn't have restructured if we had gotten the grant. Essentially we would have followed a transformation model -- with the same staff and principal etc, but a more rigorous staff evaluation process and with increased learning time -- 30 minutes a day, which we would be paid an increase in our salary to teach.
I think if we don't submit the grant (irrespective of getting the grant) then we will either become a public school choice option (a pilot or charter -- which I am fine with. I'd love to write a pilot proposal!) or be reconstituted -- same principal (she is new this year), staff is all fired and have to reapply for jobs, which I also don't fear.
