Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

I need to figure out what we're during for Thanksgiving. Possibly not hosting it, go figure!

I have got to get rid of this sore throat. It's such a bear.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Do you have hard water where you are?

Nope, ours is naturally soft. That's not a thing where you guys are? Anyway, I do get some mild mineral buildup, but it comes clean easily with the stainless steel scrubbies I got from Lehmans.

Dude, I am so grateful to be getting this new to us van from Dave's high school friend, but working out how to pick it up is stressing me out something awful. I know she wanted to come to see Dave, so she's driving it up from Dallas to Amarillo. But Dave doublescheduled, so now it's just me getting it, which means I've got to do some finagling because obvs I will have a car there if I drive. So I could fly, rent a one-way from Flagstaff (picking up my car there later with Dave), or pull a road trip with my girlfriends. I would like to do the latter, but suspect it won't come together. The whole thing is just goofy because my sister lives in Dallas and it would have been just as easy and cheaper for me to come to Dallas to get it.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

I have a Holmes humidifier that has lasted several years.

People are welcome to come to TX for Thanksgiving. Parade, food and Football.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

I wish travel were in the cards for me, but I suspect I'll spend a large part of Thanksgiving sleeping since it will be my one day off in a month.

For your morning outrage: What the FUCK is this piece doing in Nature? [link]

not your mom's socks.

Oi. Futures is Nature's short-fiction section. I'm not defending it. There's a fine, fine, fine line and I'm still reading the comments. And, oi.

ETA - I should add that I haven't actually succeeded in reading the story itself all the way through. My eyes keep sliding off of it.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I should add that I haven't actually succeeded in reading the story itself all the way through. My eyes keep sliding off of it.

Huh, me too. Something about the rampant sexism and horrible writing keeps turning me off.

FlyLady wants me to make two casseroles at once and keep one in the freezer. In theory, this is a good idea. In practice, it means what she really wants me to do is organize my freezer so there's room for a casserole in there. Which ain't gonna happen.

Librarian Warlord

I can't see Flylady working for my household unless my DH is on board since I am not going to suddenly be the one responsible for directing the cleaning traffic. I have issues when he tries to get me to be the person who remembers everything.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

I have issues when he tries to get me to be the person who remembers everything.

WORD. Or to be the person who schedules everything. But I have issues.

This last round of stress and anxiety (changing schools, nursing issues etc) was actually handled by K and not me, thus making this a bit better than usual.

Art Crawl!!!

I love Vicks. I love it even more now that I know that the eucalyptus in it makes it a good anti-fungal as well as everything else it is.
