That reminds me I need to make some banana bread today.
If I wanted to tart up the banana bread with some complementary flavor, what should I use?

Dried cranberries? Salted almonds or pecans?

Banana liqueur. It amps up the banananess in a really awesome way. Only downside is you wind up with an almost-full bottle of banana schnapps to use up.
Jess, just a room humidifier? Let me go check mine (I'm working a half day due to extreme insomnia last night, and I'm still home but about to head in).
Jess, just a room humidifier?
Yes, for a small bedroom. Apparently the one in our room started working again this morning, which is great timing since I've already lost my voice.
We have a lot of August babies in here. I too am a peridot and I am convinced that is the ugliest birthstone of all 12.
no competition.
I would take any other birthstone besides that one. I would even take the forelorn aquamarine as a birthstone.

Chocolate chips? The Joy recipe I use calls for lemon, which I usually don't add, and no spices, which I usually do (cinnamon, ginger).
Aw, I like peridots. At least, I like olivine and I'm told they are the same thing. But I generally like gemstones. And stones that are in no way precious. And colored glass. Pretties.
I like walnuts in banana bread but I don't know if that's a flavor so much as crunchiness. Rum? Nutmeg?
I should clean my humidifier.
Huh. Mine is just a Vicks. I only use it maybe 3 months out of the year, and probably not every night because I'm a slacker. So my low usage might be why it's still working after 3-4 years.
Buy a hot mist rather than a cool or warm mist one. That creates humidity the old fashioned way by boiling water. Those things last forever and since they don't create white mist don't need filters. You do have to clean them after using every time.
