Now we're saving a vampire from vampires. I got two words for that -- Nuh and uh.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Who's your carrier again? I'm pretty sure my sister's bought a UK SIM as well as a US SIM for her Jamaican phone. And I could buy a Kenyan one for my (T-Mobile or maybe AT&T) phone.

Verizon.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Happy birthday, Ginger!

So apparently I went to Chicago for warmer weather and lack of snow? I still have not really seen any Chicago tourist attractions, but I'm sure I'll be back, since my friend was moving there. What I did see was several great friends, one tiny baby (8 weeks today!), and a bunch of real estate -- I felt like I was on House Hunters. Good times.

We had over 350 kids at my mom's house last night. We really didn't expect that many. Thankfully, we could tag-team trips to get more candy. We had 200 bags of candy made up, but needed way more. The best costume was a middle school kid, who was wearing khaki Dockers, a button- down shirt and horn rimmed glasses, and had the shirt half unbuttoned to reveal his Superman costume. We had a large assortment of fairies, butterflies, a bunch of bananas (5 kids), and a very small Capt Jack Sparrow. The funniest part of the evening was the line of kids waiting to pet my mom's ancient chihuahua (dressed as a pumpkin) after they got their candy.

My youngest, who is a high school sophomore and his friends went trick-or-treating last night, but since they are all in marching band, they wore their band jackets and played songs for their candy. I heard many compliments on their efforts.

ETA: Happy birthday, Ginger!

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Happy Birthday Ginger!

We ended up getting a good number of trick-or-treaters last night. (We bought two bags of candy and all but three or four were given out. One piece per trick-or-treater.)

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Ah. I don't know if Verizon uses SIM cards. I was going to get a Jamaican SIM card so I could just have a Jamaican number, period, but you have to use it every three months or so. And I'm only back one a year under good conditions. And I'd never remember to send that four-times-a-year text message in order to keep it alive.

My cat Oz is a nose-licker. It's not as bad as when I first got him and he would stalk me while I slept. As soon as I stirred he would launch at my face and start licking my nose. Now, he mostly respects my boundaries, and I let him have a little lick now and then. He will groom my whole face sometimes.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Sue,

I would find that completely untenable. I do not want my nose licked. at all.

Compassionately intolerant

This Halloween was the first year in twenty that I did not even reach for my nun's habit. With everything going on, I could not muster it. I'm kind of glad I didn't try.

Happiest of Birthdays, Ginger! May this be your best year yet!

Bartleby is a big time licker. He is indiscriminant as to body part, but shows a marked preference for feet and hands. Much nudging of shoes in a 'take these off!' sort of way, occurs.

So you're out of the habit?

I won't lie, after three years, I still find it a little offputting. It used to be almost compulsive, but now he's a lot better.

ETA: He's a strange little cat, but he's 98% a great little cat. Though at 20 lbs., he's not so little.
