"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Hi, zuisa!

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Hey, it's Treehouse of Horror tonight on The Simpsons. Apparently this is only the second time since 1999 that they've actually run it before Halloween, as it usually got pushed back by baseball.

Punishingly Intricate

Bounce house was fun!!! But kind of hard work. Especially after a 5 mile hilly hike today. My legs are sore und tired! And I just broke and turned on the heat for the first time. My nose is cold!!! Usually I try to keep it off until Nov 1.

Hi zuisa! That sounds like a very enviable travel plan!

I had a variety of plans for the day (buying various things, cleaning), and abandoned them as being not needed (did do some laundry) and instead stayed home and drank oceans of tea, hoping my incipient cold would go away. I don't think it has. Hrmph.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

My parents' town banned trick-or-treating tomorrow. There are still some downed wires and lots of downed trees from the storm, and the town says it's not safe to have kids wandering around.

hip deep in pie

Lisa, I caved and turned on my heat today too. In theory because my sisters were here. But they're long gone and the heat's still on.

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

My heat went on with the snow last Wednesday. More snow is due next Wednesday.

I made cookies and really wished I had a KitchenAid instead of mixing the dough with a hand mixer. Doesn't help that I HAVE a KitchenAid stashed in my bedroom (K-Bug's Christmas present).

I turned on my heat weeks ago. Only kicked in when it dropped below 68 inside. My catsitting house was 50 today. Figured out how to turn on their heat. Cats will appreciate it.

Because books.

K-Bug's getting a KitchenAid? Will you be my mom?!

Our heat's been on, too. Yesterday was in the 30s.
