We went to Boney Island tonight. A guy, who I guess is a producer on The Simpsons, spends MONTHS turning his yard into a Halloween extravaganza. It was AMAZING. Check it out: [link] Hundreds of animatronic skeletons and a blacklight musical fountain display and the three-story tree house. All free and so much fun.
One of the skeleton attractions is a fortune teller. They built a shadow box inside the front window of the house, and that display is in there. The cool part is a nondescript older guy, holding a slurpee cup, standing near the back of the crowd. We went with friend's kids and the younger went up front. The skeleton told him he knew his name. At the same time, slurpee man motioned the dad over, who whispered in his ear. When the skeleton said "Your name is Ethan." Ethan jumped about a foot. It was awesome.
Timelies all!
Another lazy Sunday morning, with Nova on my lap.
I feel super lazy, especially considering my brother and sister-in-law are running the Marine Corps Marathon today.

That's more than enough effort for any one family. You are helping towards the conservation of energy by taking things easy today.
a perfectly normal looking man with a toy gorilla stitched to the top of his cap.
The Empire State Building?

And eating French toast!
What cracks me up is this is the first weekend they've had alone together in forever. And they're spending a good part of it running, in the cold. Whatever turns you on, I guess.
French toast sounds num. I'm heading off in a bit to meet my dad and stepmom at the local Mexican restaurant, and then I'll be lounging about the rest of the day reading and working on fic.
There was a groupon recently for a bounce house so my friends got it and we are having kid and grown up bouncing later this afternoon! With hot cider and fried chicken for eating. And probably beer. I think I'll make that cheddar apple bread all the kids are raving about.
First, though, a long walk in the urban woods (not a metaphor).
Evidently it is a pink princess castle bounce house.
Bounce house=AWESOME.
I have been supremely lazy this morning, but I think it is time for me to get dressed and go to TJs, and then clean, and then go look at condo open houses.
