We have a business user that keeps asking us to make exception. Well, everyone likes to feel special, right? But she's asking that, for the people for this office, can you show this information, instead of that? Uh, no? Because "that" is what's in the database, and if we hardcode "this" into the program, we're violating the premise of the entire thing. If you want to actually change the data, please feel free, but if you don't want the ramifications of that, we can't actually help you, and this time we don't have any creative ideas to help you make an end run around the automation.

Oh, yay. The Big Boss just called me and the meeting went well and even if the other organization didn't roll over and do what we want, they are now more aware of our limitations and the two bosses have committed to working together to planning a way forward.
Which is a long way of saying that, come May, I'll be having more meetings. ::sigh::

Gah, the saga of "Suzi mentoring other project controls people" just keeps taking new twists. There were two people I was working with - the high level guy who is bailing and a gal a grade lower than I am. I was checking in with the gal this afternoon to make sure she was on track. When she gave me a status update, I mentioned that it looked like I would be taking over the other guy's work and that she and I would likely be working together more. Her response? "Great! I look forward to having an experienced Project Controls person to work with."

As a datapoint to the whole baby plus STUFF conversation, I don't know what I weighed right after delivery, but I was a good 30-35lbs lighter at my 2 week check up, and my kid was under 7lbs.
