I'm sorry, dad. You know I would never have tried to save River's life if I had known there was a dinner party at risk.

Congrats, Anne! And happy birthday, Tom! I'm glad you are in my world.

It's totally ok for wedding gifts to arrive after the wedding, right? Not like they open them AT the wedding anyway. Yes, I procrastinated. I do this when whelmed. I was sad that Target didn't offer a rubber mallet. It is now my go-to for house-filling gifts. I had one from college croquet (midnight croquet. I was such a PITA, they gave me a rubber mallet and made me the gremlin) and use it for all sorts of things. And everyone I've given one to has remarked on how they end up needing it more than they ever imagined...

I think the old etiquette rule was up to a year after the wedding.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Hey Alibelle!

Congratulations, Anne!

Hec and other hairstyle people, I need your expertise! You've seen the V8 commercials with Jackie Chan? The one with the woman walking down the street, and Jackie does a move with a random baby stroller? I think I want her haircut. What do I tell a stylist to get that cut?

This commercial at 0.33 seconds?

Rubber mallets are a fantastic wedding idea.

And housewarming! Not so sure about baby showers, though... Would be a hit with a two year old!

The last wedding present I gave someone was a gravy boat. It was on her registry, and I wanted to tell my grandkids one day that I had purchased one. It felt very old-timey and historical. And then, because it was like fifteen bucks, I also gave cash.

I just vanity searched my name for the last few natters, and so I'd like to respond to some comments that are about 3 years out of date:

1) Princesses ARE cool. Full stop.
2) I do not remember asking Scrappy why my office was shaking, but an earthquake does seem like a better reason than an air conditioner.
3) I respond to my real name and Alibelle equally in my real life. My mom almost always calls me Alibelle. Kat, weren't we going to go to lunch sometime? I still have presents to give you.
4) I DID go to the Twilight Eclipse premiere AND I AM NOT ASHAMED. That movie is hilarious, and they had little bits of meadow in sandboxes at the party. Also, a giant moon over the fake mountain covered in snow. I really wanted to lay down in one of the meadow boxes and quote poetry, but my dress was a little short so I opted not to. Worth it.
5) ita, is your sister still in the UK? I'm visiting again and would love to see her. You too, actually. But I am totally happy seeing you in LA, if you don't want to go to the UK. I'm generous like that.

Seriously, I really did miss you guys. Virtual hugs for all!
