My mother is in a choir and their choir director had a heart incident during rehearsal. Luckily a retired nurse (!) was in the choir and she immediately got bags of ice and put it on his chest while doing chest compressions waiting for the ambulance. Apparently she kept the man alive until the paramedics came.

That's what I said! Lyrically.
I don't know if I know your song. I mean, I probably do, but I can't place it.
Score! I am putting together an art box for art class, and I went to the art store and got supplies, and a box identical to one I already have, so I needed a way to differentiate the one with all the soft pencils and woodless pencils, and charcoal pencils and shit, and I knew I had stickers, because I am the sort of person that people give stickers to. But my hunt, while turning up all sorts of memories (and a coupon for a deep relaxation massage that I totally need to find out if it's still valid), NO STICKER. But, lo and behold, STICKER (I can't find the Batman one I actually have, but it's in that series). I've probably committed all sorts of crimes by actually sticking it to something, but fuck that. Batman is on my art box now.
"I'll Fly Away," Greg Brown's version of the Blake poem On Another's Sorrow, and many years ago I might have said "Be Not Afraid," but that's kind of overplayed by now. I don't want people at my funeral rolling their eyes at the playlist.
eta: ita !, I think Marley must have been borrowing the same lyrics; the bit you quoted is just about word for word from "I'll Fly Away."
For the record, my brownies are frigging delicious. And I remembered to tell the nut-allergic kid's dad that they were nut-free!
I love all your song choices! And now I am sniffly.
I like Warren Zevon's last album for that kind of material.
Why are the lyrics not coming up right away when I try and google that, JZ? WHAT'S WRONG?
I don't think Bob shares many other lyrics with your version, unless Greg mentions Zion, or Babylon, but since Google is being coy with me, I may never know.
It's just the "one bright morning/I'll fly away" piece.
Oh, sorry. I meant two different songs. There's "I'll Fly Away," which has the same lyrics you quoted from the Bob song, and then there's Greg Brown's version of Blake. (Which, sadly, I can't find in anything but tiny audio snippets anywhere, but the words are all Blake.)
Maybe also his version of Blake's "Night."
Or, hell, maybe just his entire Blake album. That should do it.
eta: And because I love the Old 100th, but everyone already knows "Praise God From Whom All Blessings Flow," I'd want "All People That On Earth Do Dwell," preferably with God gender-switched and the whole thing sung a little faster than usual, more Ren Faire country folk song speed than hymn speed.
That should do it.
Cat likes to knead...but CAT, my breastbone is not fleshy enough for that! Plenty of other parts of me are!!
JZ, you just made me start singing "Be Not Afraid", darn you! Of course, I was about to say "The HELL you'll play "On Eagle's Wings" for my funeral! (though we did play it at my grandma's). I would also enjoy "I'll Fly Away" or "Circle be Unbroken".
The Nields "I'll Meet You In The Sky"
Not actually what I believe, but still the best song.
