"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Yikes, glad to hear you're OK, Vonnie.

Last night I had to give a co-worker my best "Bitch, please!" look when she asked about having a final proofread pass on my current project. (Her inability to find time for one when scheduled screwed things up both deadline-wise and making the work itself more difficult for me and another co-worker her task got dropped on. Do what you've actually been assigned to do before you go looking for extra work to tack on at the end of the process.)

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Huh. Heh. Also, tee-hee.

Rush Limbaugh Show Includes Over 5 Minutes Of Dead Air As Advertiser Exodus Continues

As Media Matters reports, of the 86 ads that made it on the air today, 77 of them were free public service announcements donated by the Ad Council. An additional seven ads were from companies that are in the process of pulling their spots from the show, leaving just two ads during the entire three hour broadcast that were purposefully paid to appear during the program.

I have to believe there's more than a little bit of panic occurring right now among his management team. But you make a career of stirring up shit, you're going to reap the shit storm.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Oh dear meara, fire AND flooding? Glad the house is finally behaving itself.

Yay for flirting, msbelle.

And in hair news, {warning: lice font} I made sure everyone was treated on Tues with the alcohol-based lotion, and it seems to have killed all the big guys, as promised. But it ain't over 'til all those pesky little nits are gone. Combed out everyone's hair with a GOOD nit comb this time AND a silicone product as per Plei's rec. OMG my advice if you ever deal with this crap is buy the good comb! It works so much better OMG! Also, wow that is nasty to think about having all those little nits on my head. Cree.Pee. And to make things seem hopeless, I found out yesterday that there was an outbreak in the other 3rd grade class just last week. And a friend of mine said she's been combing out her daughter's hair with the nit comb several times a week, and she says new lice appear on a regular basis. Ugh! So that means I should be checking regularly too, right?

How in the hell did I escape having lice all my childhood? It seems impossible.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Oh, good god. I wake up in the middle of the night to discover my alarm clock is frozen and won't reboot.

Now I gotta drag a tablet into bed and have that wake me up. That coulda been close. Insomnia came in useful there.

information libertarian

It's been a helluva year for lice, all over the country, if my anecdata is to be believed. Prior to this year I don't recall anybody I know dealing with lice (aside from my half-sister with waist-length hair some 15 years ago), and this year it's been rampaging through the kids' old school in GA and the new school here.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

but tommy, his listenership has been UP this whole week.

I have to believe that people tuning in now who didn't listen to him before are just gawkers, tuning in for the fun of it, not actually becoming regular listeners. His audience probably increases briefly every time he's in the news.

I have to believe that, otherwise I'm afraid.

Slept in (for me=6:30) and had to deal with mopping the kitchen floor when somehow, Pumpkin exploded the waterdish all over it. And her. She's a damp kitty. I don't even know. It's too early for this.

So I'm camped outside security at SFO, because they don't open until 0430. I'm already convinced I over packed.

And I have a head cold, which came on between 6 & 8 pm last night. Bah.

Vonnie, I'm so glad you're okay, I was worried when I saw the headlines!

Flying through Chicago to Boston to Madrid, argh.
