DIDN'T I TELL YOU THIS?!
Not enough times.
There's a woman in the corner that brings in pictures of dogs and draws those. It's a figure drawing course, with a live (nude) model every week. She's been doing this at least two years.
I told the teacher I'd like to learn to draw in something other than pencil and he's like "Don't even worry. Emotion first."
Okay, I get it. I am a robot.
Where do people get emotion from in black and white? How do you put that in and still be accurate? I DON'T UNDERSTAND!!!!
ita, has your teacher mentioned if he'll have you do gesture drawings rather than long-duration poses (which tend to be very static for the model's comfort) sometimes? That might help with getting more emotion into your drawings by doing something sketchy and not working on details.
I would also recommend buying some charcoal or (even better) vine charcoal to work with. It'll loosen you up a bit just by virtue of its imprecise nature.

Also, I can give you Dad's email. He may still be in touch with some of his ex-coworkers who are still working, if you're interested.

You have to start signing all your work with "MY FEELS".

Holy cow. Those are...good hands to have. Guh.
Ugh, Kat. Good luck. Also, good luck to all those kids!
And as le nubian said, this week's TAL was really interesting on what "small government" actually means and looks like. Ugh.
And ita, of course you're not a beginner! You can draw people who look like people. I'm just saying.
