Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I'm just really confused because I thought he'd said much worse before this. Was this the first time he'd said something hugely misogynistic? Was it just homophobic crap before?

x-posty....

Well, AFAIK he's never attacked someone who wasn't a celebrity or politician like this before.

A lot of people are crediting social media for this (and of course social media wasn't as pervasive in years past).

I wonder if enough women were just angry and freaked out already over the recent Catholic birth control kerfuffle, the trans-vaginal ultrasound bill, etc.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Facebook. Limbaugh was used to saying what he likes, and having the ability to control what people say back to him. It's harder to do that nowadays.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

Was this the first time he'd said something hugely misogynistic? Was it just homophobic crap before?

I think the turning point is that (a) he said vicious and personal statements about a "civilian" individual, not a faceless "they", and someone who isn't a public figure; and (b) he ran afoul of the same population who responded during the Susan Komen/Planned Parenthood kerfuffle. Women give a damn about birth control (just like we care about breast cancer), regardless of our political leanings, and we don't take well to being called promiscuous for using it.

Also, he so clearly got the facts wrong--in multiple ways--that he looks not just like a bully, but an idiot.

Our wings are not tired.

Whether it was the non-celeb attack, or the social media slamming of the advertisers, or just good sense, I say hooray! That level of hate just should not be on the air. I believe in free speech so it only makes sense to make sure the stations carrying his vile program and the advertisers supporting it hear the free speech loud and clear.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Yeah, attacking a regular person for something that the vast majority of women do in this day and age is just crazy.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

Limbaugh's whole career is based on making inflammatory statements, but I don't think he ever attacked a non-celeb or pundit so viciously before.

Also, the victim in this case was a nice white lady. He's been making horrible racist remarks for years and hasn't been called out for it.

We are all accountable for that. Ah, institutional racism.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

I never would have thought this would have occurred even a week ago.

I agreed with George Will on a non-baseball subject, so anything can happen. I actually cheered with he criticized GOP leaders on This Week Sunday for not roundly condemning Limbaugh.

Boehner comes out and says Rush’s language was inappropriate. Using the salad fork for your entrée, that’s inappropriate. Not this stuff. And it was depressing because what it indicates is that the Republican leaders are afraid of Rush Limbaugh. They want to bomb Iran, but they’re afraid of Rush Limbaugh.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

The comments from various Republicans that say the *language* was inappropriate makes me lose my fucking mind. It wasn't the LANGUAGE that was inappropriate, damn it. Even if you use nicer terms and lovely language, the problem is the slut-shaming, not the language used to do so. Gah!

(Which I realize is preaching to the choir, but it just steams me so much I had to vent.)

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

For the lice, a silicone "shine" spray + a good set of combs works better than anything.

We managed lice + waist length hair x2 that way.
