brillig

Gobs of sun, below freezing. At least the snow will melt off the roads. (It's cool watching the steam rise from the asphalt)

Because books.

I thought ita sounded exactly like I imagined, but I remember being very surprised by the trace of a Southern accent when I talked to Barb the first time.

My favorite was a literary agent I had spoken to on the phone a zillion times, and his voice made me think: tall, lanky, glasses, sort of shy. Instead, he was hugely tall, built like a wrestler, with a bald head and a blond goatee and bright blue eyes.

Returning to yesterday's topic: TNC over at the Atlantic has a killer, thoughtful, graceful piece on Andrew Breitbart. [link]

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Yes, the TNC piece is very worth reading and thinking about.

And Rush Limbaugh is getting blowback on his slut-shaming: he just lost one of his major sponsors. [link]

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Two other advertisers are considering ending their sponsorship of Limbaugh.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I keep getting a heads up that I might want to stop my 401K withdrawals because bonuses are coming in the next couple weeks, and I wouldn't want it taken out of that, and then I can put them back on afterwards.

I've never been given this heads up before. Is this normal for people to do? I figured you just get stuff taken off the top of all your money. Now I'm starting to think "Maybe I should be getting all my money in my greedy little hands now", but I don't even know. Savings good.

My rent got raised yesterday by $50.96. Which is fine--I've been expecting them to raise it for a few years now, and I've been expecting them to raise it by more, so this is fine, considering. Whew. Except the amount is now fucked up. It's and 96 cents. I will never remember that.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

One advertiser, Sleep Train Mattress Centers, said today that it's pulling its ads from Limbaugh's show because "we don't condone negative comments directed toward any group."

I'm not overly familiar with him, thankfully, but I was under the impression that all he did was make negative comments directed toward many groups.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

I feel like crowing "How's that States'-Rights-take-precedence thing working out for you now?" to right wingers since individual states are falling into marriage equality like dominos.

You crow, and I'll dance the Dance of How You Like It Now?

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

It just seems so foolish to try to shame women who take the Pill, given what an overwhelming number of Americans that is.

Somewhat relatedly, anyone heard from Glenn Beck recently?
