"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Sparky,

devil's advocate: if he didn't want to waste people's time, what were his alternatives? Was it that he left early, or he didn't do due diligence before applying, or that he was rude when he left?

Librarian Warlord

When I called to invite him in, I reiterated the hours/pay that were in the job announcement and told all the candidates that I didn't want to waste anyone's time by bringing them in if those arrangements wouldn't work - no harm, no foul. So he confirmed at that point he was interested in coming in.

So, yes, it was rude to have us all clear our schedules and then bail. I would have gone through the interview, so as to stay on good terms, and then if offered the job politely declined with a vague, "something has come up, but I really appreciate the offer."

One of his references is the sister of someone who works here - it really is a small profession, and we all talk to each other.

I expressed my confusion, and told him that I wasn't usually in the business of accepting and transferring calls, and he actually backed off and called the front desk instead. But how completely rude. I mean, even if you know that person B is my co-worker (she's not in my team), if you don't know me, why would you call me and ask for her?

Sounds like a recruiter or scammer trying to get names/phone numbers

Sparky,

oh that is kind of a jerky thing to do.

Well, you know that now. :-)

And then he walked out after half an hour? Dude will not be getting invited back.

Heading off to pick up a few lat minute things from Target, and then to scoop up the parents. The cell was left unplugged, hope it has enough juice after 15 minutes, in case they get lost in the airport. (Don't put it past them...)

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

Our open enrollment just started. I can finally switch from a high deductible catastrophic plan to a HMO and, bonus, keep my same doctor. Couldn't do HMO before cause I was covering K-Bug in California and HMO's won't cover multiple states at the same time.

I maxed out on my annual deductible about 2/3 of the way through this year. Even maxed out on my prescription deductible. Kinda loving that some of my prescriptions are under a dollar now. That will go away at the end of the year, but I'm stocking up as I can now.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

My ovaries briefly woke up.

Good god, I must have maxed out my prescription deductible too, unless my insurance truly sucks.

Ugh, I hate open enrollment. It always makes me feel dumb.
