That's beautiful. Or taken literally, incredibly gross.

not your mom's socks.

I kind of love ita ! right now. But there is no point at which I didn't.

Ok, people. My workshop roommate has just - I can't even. Email venting that ... oi. I had such a different experience than she did. And I spent a lot of time trying to help her. And I need to stop helping her now. Because I am about two replies from becoming the target of her frustration.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Sox, step away from the Other People's Drama. It'll just get you all stinky and gooey.

Now tagless for your comfort.

Sox, was that the workshop with my friend from Dallas?

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

That's disturbing, David. Is there an ongoing investigation?

I don't know, but I don't think so. They had the body. Certainly he would've been the prime suspect if they suspected anything. This happened back in May.

It's also weird because her daughter, who was a young adult, just graduated from college, had moved back in with her mother and this guy.

Gabby related some of his notions which included a hierarchy that had God at the top, man second, then two or three other categories (I don't know what. Llamas? Real Estate Agencies?), and then women somewhere down in the middle. Creepy.

The service was strange too because none of her family was there and it was mostly filled by people from his pentecostal church. (She was an Hispanic-American Catholic, so not her church.)

But surely an autopsy would've turned up something like her being roofied or drugged. And you'd think she'd have the usually bruises and broken fingernails of somebody fighting for her life.

My guess is that he had a friend with him to help, and they forced her down under the water with a large cushion so she would've be bruised.

It's very disturbing. I am certain in my bones that her death wasn't an accident.

He went last year - and yes.

I am trying. This is a heinous mess.

ETA - Cashmere's friend from Dallas is made of awesome, btw.

Here's her obit.

That's a really old picture from the 80s.

His church was affiliated as part of the Assemblies of God megachurch.

This morning Perkins snorkeled while I sunbathed and read, and then we went to a rum tasting and had mahi mahi banh mi for lunch. Autocorrect wanted that to be banjos.

My BFF's brother somehow wandered from a middle-class Presbyterian upbringing and a degree from Vanderbilt to becoming an Assemblies of God minister. There's a lot of crazy there. He finally left the Assemblies of God when he was told to preach against Smurfs.

That's assuming there was an autopsy, though. Given the constraints on public resources right now, I suspect they're only done when there's a reason to suspect foul play. If there was no evidence of abuse before her death, I doubt the cops are going to to look that closely.

And for all we know she had a history of fainting, or some other condition that wasn't mentioned outside the family (like an addiction to painkiller), but that might have come into play. In those circumstances, many families are not going to tell the full truth to everyone, but they might reveal it to the police if it means the difference between just getting on with the practicalities and being arrested on suspicion of murder.

Which is not to say your suspicions are wrong, but you don't have all the facts, either.
