That man was going to shank me. Over an omelette. Two eggs and a slice of government cheese. Is that what my life is worth?

I keep disposable latex gloves in my kitchen for that very purpose. After a painful mistake with a jalepeno. (I swear I washed my hands 4 times before taking out my contacts! I swear, I did!)

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I wish this were shocking:

The Roman Catholic bishop of Kansas City-St. Joseph, Robert Finn, and the diocese he leads have been indicted by a county grand jury on a charge of failure to report suspected child abuse in the case of a priest who had been accused of taking lewd photographs of young girls.

But this part still is:

The indictment is the first ever of a Catholic bishop in the 25 years since the scandal over sexual abuse by priests first became public in the United States.

Man.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

Just got off the phone with Mom. She's been talking all summer long about coming out here this fall, but had been waffling on the exact time. I told her time and time again to let me know so I could take some PTO from work. Since she's bringing her dog along, she's not going to be staying with me (which is a bit of a relief, because I didn't want to put my cat through the hassle of having a dog sharing my 1BR apartment with her), but with her siblings down in Joliet. I figured I'd go down there and visit often in her week or so stay.

Since she hadn't said anything in the past few weeks about exactly when she was coming out, I figured she had settled on Thanksgiving. Then, while we were talking just now, she said something about how Dad is going to be visiting my niece at college in Ohio next weekend, which will work out fine with her coming out here right afterward. I said "I thought you were coming out at Thanksgiving!" and she was all, "Didn't I tell you?" No, Mom, you didn't. Thanks for the heads up. Now I have to figure out my PTO and get someone cross trained a lot sooner than I thought.

And, if Dad is planning on going out to Ohio next weekend, he was originally talking about taking me with! I have to talk with him, too, and see exactly what his plans are and get that PTO planned as well.

Retirees have flexible schedules--we working kids don't!!

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I have a two day weekend, but as is traditional with me, I'm more tired after a four-day work week than a five-day one.

It has been a bitch of a week. Ungodly. But hopefully next week will be calmer.

Kathy, that is so the kind of thing that happens in my family.

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

I have that overly emotional feeling, like I could cry at the drop of a hat. I'm not PMSing, nothing specifically has me upset, I just feel completely off kilter.

Suzi, I can sympathize all too well. I hope things even out for you soon.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

Oh, I'm sorry about crappy days and weeks, guys. Hope things turn around better.

Just woke up from a nap. Crawled in bed to get warm and feel asleep!

Garage sales around here seem to be Fri/Sat, although I've seen them on Sundays, too.

I had two little 9 year old girls who came back three times, the third time with another little girl. They were so cute and sweet, and carefully doled out nickels and went home to go through their piggy banks to buy some jewelry, some art stuff and a couple of knickknacks.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

I went to personal training, got cash and something for dinner, started the dishwasher, and the laundry, and now I am so completely out of steam that I am going to sit on the couch and do absolutely nothing until I have to change the laundry.

WHOOOO

Punishingly Intricate

I have a three day weekend! And I am packed for my little trip to Austin. Really excited to be hanging with the ladies I'm going with and VERY excited to be surprising our old bandmate on his bday! Oh And I rediscovered that a dress I've had for years and haven't worn in ages fits! It's the dress I'm wearing in this:

Bob is riding a century on the eastern shore tomorrow and I feel bad I can't be there to cheer him on, though.
