Much love, ita. I’m so glad you’re there with your family.

much love to you too. ita. I am amused at the idea that you travel all the way to Jamaica to mark papers. Had I only known! I have papers you could mark right here in LA.
HA! I was so thinking this! As ever, I have papers to grade.
Tom, I am so sorry you have to deal with the suck of your childhood but I so admire your strength and bravery in doing so.
Hil,
FYI - the new season of "Work of Art" on Bravo has a contestant on there from Malaysia who was born Deaf.
Elk are out again tonight. Further off so I can hear them but not see them. Didn't help that I knocked down firewood trying to carry my stool out to the deck. I left the Flip running out there. Will check again later.
Elk! I want elk in my yard. The closest I get to wildlife is the occasional skunk smell on a pre-dawn run, or the turkeys when I visit my folks out in Contra Costa.
ita, it sounds like you're getting the full family experience, and I love that your mom is so popular. Glad to hear she's recovering well.
My cousin's daughter made us a wonderful (and totally unhealthy) jambalaya for dinner. NOM.
We have skunks too. For a while I thought there were some living under the deck. And we have mice and squirrels and regular rabbits and giant killer jackrabbits and foxes and coyotes and mule deer and antelope and ELK!
Oh yeah, and my nephew and his wife finally had their baby. I think she was, like, two weeks past her due date. She was supposed to be induced last night and the hospital had no bed for her. If the baby girl had held out another ten minutes, she'd have shared my sister-in-law's birthday.
So it's a happy night.
Ugh. Day started bad (crazy nightmares about murdering someone and then freaking about getting caught), got ok (work, work, more work), got good (dinner with relatives--but ones I like and wish I could spend more time with!), and then bad again (possible drama with Atlanta girl). Sigh.
But tomorrow I meet up with Nonian and give her Trader joes goodies!
My whole week has been Onerous Task Day with the garage sale prep. And my Getting Shit Done on Twitter was a masturbatory exercise. Oh, well - it made me step away from the Garage Sale Prep of Doom and I got an onerous e-mail written and 8 pages copyedited in a hour, even with Twittering.
Guys, it looks like a thrift store threw up in my house. The ex left SO MUCH STUFF. Granted, Dan and I are getting rid of some stuff of our, and my mom, dad and sister filled up my car with stuff for the garage sale (pre-laundered, thanks, family) but 85% of the stuff is leftovers from the ex. She never threw ANYTHING away. I've done 15 loads of laundry, maybe 2 of it my stuff, and 5 loads through the dishwasher, maybe 1/2 a load of it mine.
Tomorrow is a Garage Sale Prep Only day. Anything that's left after Saturday will be Freecycled for 1 day, and then I am packing it up and hauling it to Goodwill on Monday.
Only problem is this couch and two chairs that I'm not sure anyone would want to buy. I'm going to vacuum and Febreeze the hell out of them, and mark them for sale for $5 each. Hell, I'd PAY $5 each for someone to haul them away. I may put a sign up to this effect.
msbelle, I'm so sorry. I wish things were better, and that you could be here more.
