Why would the bank NOT allow you to make payments?
Because they want her house. Laura missed a payment three years ago. The bank used this as an excuse to move forward and say she defaulted. Though she's had the money to make all payments since, the bank is not interested and only wants to foreclose because she doesn't owe that much on the house so it would be an excellent investment. They are being predatory and evil.
bonny, tolls on the Turnpike aren't that bad, you'll probably pay a couple bucks. It's $5 to go over the Delaware Memorial Bridge though, the last I remember.
omnis, definitely get a fixed-rate mortgage, you never know what's going to happen with interest rates. They're really low right now, though, and home prices are (relatively) low, so if you're going to buy, this is a good time.
There are some tolls on 95 that have gone up - Aberdeen and Perryville are both somewhere around $4. There's one in De before the bridge too, IIRC. There must be a toll/trip calculator on the interwebs - if not, it would be useful.

Absolutely. Just the down time I've had since my shoulder surgery has really cut my stamina. And I didn't have any blood loss.

Bonnie, I hope the new pup is all and more. Take it easy on the NJTP. Remember, it's a commute, not a race. Once I learned that, driving became a lot less stressfull.
Sumi, take it easy. You have to build your stamina back. You were in hospital for awhile there. It's not just a blood thing, it's an energy thing PLUS the blood thing. Half day was a great start.
