The one full Mardi Gras season I did, I was swimming in beads. I gave so many away, kept so many, and threw away what my local family told me was no good. It was sad that the Zulu coconut didn't last. But there was way too much stuff.

you should also tell your friend J that Lucas made The Phantom Menace FOR kids. Especially his own children. His kids names some of the characters (Count Dooku) and he wanted to make sure this movie had good merchandising for children.
It's like he learned the wrong lessons from Jedi, but that is precisely why TPM appeals to children. It is a live action cartoon with a really poor plot.
